The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) was proposed by the US representative Lamar Smith to stop the piracy of online contents.We all know that these acts will only help in shutting down many useful internet services. For the past two days, its been a wild protest against the SOPA and PIPA in the cyber world. As part of it, many websites including Wikipedia and Reddit showed their protest against these acts through their homepages by shutting down them for some time.
At last, we got the news that they are withdrawing these acts. Lamar Smith's words about this: "I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy. It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products"
